clinical trial

O.P.T.I.M.A. – G stands for Observing Pain Transdermal Treatments – Improving and Managing All GI Symptoms. This is study from Clarity Science for patients who have been prescribed a topical/transdermal pain medication. The study aims to evaluate their experiences and perceptions. Pain and other related symptoms will be evaluated by patient feedback.

In 2016, the Center for Diseases Control (CDC) released strict guidelines for prescribing opioids in an effort to decrease overdoses and unintentional deaths linked to the misuse of opioids. This cream is an exciting alternative to opioids for the treatment of pain.

Potential benefits of topical/transdermal pain medication:
• May be effective for patients with acute and chronic pain
• May be used for multiple diagnoses and may include multiple medications to treat different types of pain
• May reduce or avoid side effects and complications associated with oral pain medications
• May decrease diversion, addiction, and abuse inherent with oral narcotic drugs
• May reduce or eliminate the use of oral pain medications
• May be used in conjunction with oral medications

The following is the inclusion/exclusion criteria for the study:
• Male or female, ages 18-64
• Participants must have insurance coverage for prescribed medications
• Have received a prescription for a topical pain formulation from their treating physician
• No beneficiaries of government funded healthcare programs
• Signed Informed Consent authorization and HIPAA Release form
